Dubai, United Arab Emirates, xxx September 2022: Johnson Controls, the global leader for smart, healthy and sustainable buildings, will exhibit its wide range of next-generation solutions at the 22nd Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), hosted by the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) at the Dubai World Trade Centre, between 27 and 29 Sep 2022.

As a key participant, Johnson Controls will highlight a broad range of energy solutions used in buildings, including OpenBlue Services for chiller performance, Metasys Building Automation System, as well as energy efficiency, air systems, fire suppression capabilities and more.

“For almost 140 years, energy efficiency has been a hallmark for Johnson Controls. At WETEX, we aim to highlight our leading products, solutions and services that demonstrate not only innovation and efficiency, but also offer a holistic, integrated technology to make buildings, campuses and cities safer, smarter and more sustainable,” said Mohammad Khalid, Johnson Controls Vice President and General Manager for Middle East and Africa.

Johnson Controls’ OpenBlue Net Zero Buildings is a complete suite of connected solutions providing a proven path to decarbonization and achieving renewable energy goals, whilst optimizing building performance. With 40% of global CO2 emissions that come from buildings, cutting-edge solutions such as OpenBlue Net Zero Buildings can help drive significant improvements in energy efficiency and corresponding carbon emissions.

At WETEX, visitors can experience Johnson Controls’ OpenBlue Services that drive chiller performance first-hand. Visitors can understand the benefits of planned, predictive and proactive maintenance, which can find and fix issues before they impact output and bottom lines. Chillers can consume as much as 40% of a building’s energy, as such, high efficiency levels are paramount to optimizing spaces. A Frost & Sullivan report indicated that managing a chiller with Johnson Controls OpenBlue Services lowers chiller equipment downtime by up to 50% and minimizes energy waste, which can be as high as 30% in unmanaged chiller plants.

Johnson Controls’ OpenBlue Services leverage tailored, AI-infused services such as remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance, compliance monitoring, advanced risk assessments, and more.

Participants and visitors can learn about Johnson Controls’ solutions through augmented reality and real-time analysis. For instance, OpenBlue Services, are equipped with AI-enabled predictive and remote diagnostics abilities, taking advantage of real-time data drawn from more than 200 data collection points on each piece of equipment. The data gathered is then compared to an equipment model, in this case, the 'perfect chiller,' created from Johnson Controls’ own statistical data, compiled over more than 20 years. In the case of temperature monitoring, an alert is generated if the system readings are off by as little as half a degree from the expected range. These insights allow the OpenBlue Chiller Experts to identify and address potentially critical system issues before they can cause a breakdown.

Participants visiting Johnson Controls’ exhibition can also test the updated version of Metasys, the company’s industry-leading Building Automation System, which helps to improve system performance, saves energy, and keeps the data secure. Johnson Controls’ experts will provide deep insights on the company’s energy storage products to better manage energy use, cut costs and ensure electrical back-up for a building, campus or business.

Another highlight will be Johnson Controls’ fire suppression solutions, which protect lives and assets through incident management, emergency lighting, gas detection and smoke detection among others.

With several leading sustainability initiatives, Dubai has been a frontrunner in tackling climate change. The Dubai Clean Energy Strategy, where Dubai aims to produce 75 per cent of its energy requirements from clean sources by 2050 is a testament to this ambition. In line with the same vision and aligning with the ambitious path of the Paris Climate Accord, the Johnson Controls adopted targets to reduce operational emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 55%, helping the planet stay at or below 1.5 degrees C, and aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of Paris. Johnson Controls offers the world`s largest portfolio of building technology and software as well as service solutions that advance sustainability and a greener future for our planet. As compared to 2017, Johnson Controls has achieved 41% reduction in GHG emissions and a 15% cut in energy intensity, helping to reduce its carbon footprint, delivering healthier indoor environments and lowering energy costs.

WETEX brings together some 45,000 visitors and is hosted annually under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.
