Sharjah Investment & Development Authority (Shurooq) & Johnson Controls Celebrate Partnership in Energy Efficiency at Al Qasba, Sharjah

DUBAI – (22 January 2019) – The senior leadership of Sharjah Investment & Development Authority (Shurooq) & Johnson Controls International celebrated their partnership upon the completion of the Energy Efficiency Project for the Chiller Plant serving Al Qasba, a landmark destination in Sharjah that is extremely popular with tourists and residents.

His Excellency Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, Executive Chairman of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), said during a meeting on 6th December 2018: “This is a crucial step for Shurooq and for Al Qasba, which has been one of the oldest and most iconic tourism and family landmarks in Sharjah and the UAE. The integration of Johnson Controls’ eco-friendly chillers not only provides efficiency and a safe environment to hundreds of thousands of annual visitors and natural plantations at Al Qasba, but also falls within our corporate guidelines in developing initiatives under the UNGA’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030 Agenda.”

He added “The emirate of Sharjah is one of the leading cities in the world who have for several decades developed and applied necessary initiatives to support its environmental sustainability infrastructure and the well-being of its citizens, of which a number of these achievements contributed to the SDG agenda today. As facilitators of partnerships and unique investment ventures in Sharjah, it is our core duty to further contribute to the emirate’s growth and economy through responsible investments that ensure each of our destinations, projects and initiatives leave an eco-friendly mark for our citizens, our tourists and our vibrant emirate.”

His Excellency Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal valued the lead taken by Johnson Controls in extending their global Energy Service (ESCO) Solutions expertise to Shurooq with the York and Metasys brand and in retrofitting with high efficiency systems for better energy performance.
