Nine-foot diameter sculpture will be illuminated green after Bucks wins

The Milwaukee Bucks Art Collection is comprised of 79 original pieces and 43 photographs by 32 artists and 170 students. Twenty-two of the artists chosen have ties to Wisconsin.

Make that 23.

In keeping with the arena’s plan to use art to elevate the environment and people’s enjoyment of the building and surrounding district, we recently installed a sculptural version of the Johnson Controls Open Globe logo to mark the Johnson Controls Northwest Entrance to Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee. As part of the Johnson Controls logo unit, the Open Globe represents the openness and global reach Johnson Controls offers through our smart, safe and sustainable technology solutions, and the beating pulse the arena achieves through the integration of Johnson Controls technology.

“This sculpture will be a welcoming symbol to all who enter Fiserv Forum and will be a symbol of the world-class technology found throughout the arena,” said Peter Feigin, Milwaukee Bucks president.

“From day one when the Bucks came to Johnson Controls with the incredible opportunity to not only be the technology provider for Fiserv Forum, but to also be a Founding Partner, we saw the potential to reaffirm our commitment to enhance and strengthen Milwaukee as a world-class sports and entertainment destination.”

— Johnson Controls Chairman and CEO George Oliver

The iconic Johnson Controls Open Globe Sculpture is capable of displaying various lighting modes as well as a full range of colors, including to highlight a Bucks home win and represent special arena events. The lighting will include a Johnson Controls-branded animated sequence that will loop through the brand colors, or it may be set to a static "white light" mode, "flashing," or animated light modes as situationally appropriate. It is our hope that the programmable lighting of the sculpture will become a talked about attribute of this iconic sculpture in our city.

“I hope everyone who walks by the Johnson Controls Open Globe Sculpture and this beautiful entrance will appreciate how fortunate we are to have such a world-class arena which will be a driver of growth for our community for decades to come,” said Grady Crosby, vice president of public affairs and chief diversity officer, Johnson Controls.

The open globe is positioned outside of the Johnson Controls “outcome wall” – a large-scale artistic interpretation of the outcomes that need to be achieved to deliver the Bucks’ desired objectives for the building and surrounding entertainment district: an enhanced fan experience, improved building performance, reduced energy usage and diminished environmental footprint. As the Official “Smart Building” Partner of Fiserv Forum, Johnson Controls had the opportunity to work alongside the Milwaukee Bucks and their partners early in the design stage to help the Bucks realize their objectives for the project and truly “build with the end in mind.”

Over the coming years, the 30-acre district surrounding Fiserv Forum will become the largest development project ever undertaken in downtown Milwaukee. Combining entertainment, residential and commercial spaces, the new district will transform Milwaukee and serve as a catalyst for driving development throughout the region.

Featuring an active plaza space designed for year-round community use outside, and sweeping views both into the bowl and out to the city throughout the interior, Fiserv Forum will redefine world-class fan experience and highlight the communal nature of attending live entertainment.

We hope that the Johnson Controls Open Globe Sculpture becomes a beacon of light to welcome the community and visitors from around the world to this great city on a great lake, as well as this state-of-the-art venue, Fiserv Forum.
